The Beauty of Boudoir

Boudoir.

Even the word itself is pretty. Go ahead, say it. Boudoir. {BOO'-dwahr}.

Giving someone the lovely gift of your photographs isn't the only reason every woman should do a boudoir shoot. Although that is definitely a memorable and beautiful thing to do. Plus, it's something you and he can keep forever and always something very special to look back on during your life.

Let's look at this from a different angle for a few minutes, shall we? Think about this... you just booked a boudoir shoot with your favorite photographer, or maybe it's even a photographer you have never met before. She [or he] suggests to you that you bring your favorite beautiful lingerie/outfits/props with you or, you find yourself at Victoria's Secret on a little shopping spree for yourself, anticipating the shoot and thinking of the look on your husband or loved one's face when he sees the gift you'll be suprising him with, and even the excitement of seeing how beautiful you look when you see your pictures. What will you wear? Which beautiful accessories will you wear or use? Which gorgeous shoes will you finally get to wear that you've been either waiting to buy for yourself or to pull out of your closet? Then there is planning how you'd like your hair done. We love that, don't we? All of the preparation for a boudoir shoot is amazingly fun! Meanwhile your photographer is providing you with all of the information you need via phone and email to answer any questions you may have regarding posing, what the shoot entails, finding out your favorite thing to drink, your favorite music, etc. You're about to be treated like the beautiful woman you ARE and will definitely feel like a model during and after your special shoot that's more like an event. It IS an event. It is YOUR event. It's a self confidence booster. It's a self esteem reminder. It's a celebration of your own unique style, personality and sexiness, all captured in classy, timeless, amazing pictures, just for you. Maybe, you'd like a portrait of you done for your loved one for his wallet, nightstand or even to hang in his dressing room [for his eyes only]. The options and ideas really are quite limitless. Perhaps there is a special location you'd like your pictures taken at rather than in studio.  What stops you from stepping off of your every day routine [that we all get wrapped up in] and doing something special like this for yourself?

Maybe it's time for you to enjoy your own session of glam, glitz and a lil sparkle. Let your hair down for a few hours and get spoiled. It's time for you to get pampered for a little while! How often do we DO that for ourselves other than the 2o minute pedi, if that?

I've also spoken with many women who will say things such as, "I need to lose weight first.." "I don't like the way my body looks..." or "I shouldn't spend money on something like that..."    My response to that is always kind and never pushy etc,  BUT, the facts are, and I truly believe this; No, you don't need to train for your shoot or lose weight first. You ARE beautiful exactly as you are. {Ignore the models in the magazines who live on celery and dried cornflakes. haha} None of us have perfect bodies. We are all unique and beautiful in our own way. And yes, you will definitely have magazine quality photographs of yourself. As for spending money on yourself, of course you should. This is definitely NOT a waste of money and you're going to spend it somewhere anyway. To be really honest, it's the best money you'll ever spend. My good friend and awesome photographer, Jenne, did a boudoir shoot of me last year and it was so much fun! The shoot itself was so fun, my face almost ached from all of the laughing we did, and I was BEYOND excited when I saw my pictures. I must have looked at that slideshow of proofs 2o times! Even the preparation for the shoot was a serious blast! Loved all of it!

I recommend having your own special boudoir photoshoot done to every woman regardless of age or size. Celebrate yourself. You are red carpet material. Yes, YOU. You ARE.   :D

Those of you who are doing it for the sake of gift giving, that's all an added plus and can really spark up your relationship, whether it's needed or not. It shows you care. It shows that you're doing something romantic and special for him, and I assure you, he WILL love it. Show that man how gorgeous you are, even though he already knows. Show him again. Remind yourself how gorgeous you are in the process of the most fun you'll ever have!

Say it again...
BOUDOIR.

Smiles to you!

xoxo,
Jen
